We bellied up to a high top at the recently opened B2 Bistro & Bar on Shrewsbury Avenue in Red Bank. This building once held an old fashioned Italian restaurant so beloved by locals that they still talk about it today. It was at Sal’s that we shushed our babies while trying to enjoy pasta puttanesca and veal parm. Two or three other restaurants took over the spot and failed. This one, B2 is gonna stick.
Breakfast in bed, might be your kids idea of a Mother’s Day treat. Scrambled eggshell omelet, burned toast and cereal with orange juice added for flavor, were some memorable dishes from the past.
Does this ring a bell with anyone? Kid’s learn from what they experience in their homes, and an important point here, they learn to love food from those who teach them to do so.
You read that title correctly. Those who live by the shore get to shop at the shore and what could be better than to find a weekly farmers market in the parking lot of our local beach? Just off of Ocean Avenue at the top of the Jersey Shore, the town of Sea Bright is in it’s second year of playing host to an open air market. Cool salty sea breezes and glorious sunshine were as appetizing as the culinary offerings.
When is a collection not a case of hoarding? Recently, I found a group of fellow cookbook collectors on facebook. They call themselves The Cookbook Junkies. Like me, this is a group of cookbook aficionados who have amassed or are in the process of putting together collections of cookbooks. I think everyone has their own reason for what appeals to them, but it can be rewarding and comforting to find like-minded compatibility.
Scenery around Seattle and it’s surrounding area is stunning. When you come from a flat-lander area, it can actually be awesome. Take those remarkably tall evergreens, add a thundering waterfall to the scene, throw in an impressive lodge and shake till you just don’t know where to look first.
It is a scene that screams, this is what Washington is all about. Big, strong, and broad shouldered, this state is not for wimps. But, this is a blog about food, so why am I writing about panoramic views?
