COOKING BY THE BOOK: A COLLECTION

When is a collection not a case of hoarding? Recently, I found a group of fellow cookbook collectors on facebook. They call themselves The Cookbook Junkies. Like me, this is a group of cookbook aficionados who have amassed or are in the process of putting together collections of cookbooks. I think everyone has their own reason for what appeals to them, but it can be rewarding and comforting to find like-minded compatibility.

SEATTLE DEVOURED: PIKE PLACE MARKET

A seven day adventure took us across the Cascade mountain range into the Emerald City, Seattle. Like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, from beginning to end, I found my time in this deeply forested, mountain surrounded city awe-inspiring. CUT THE CAKE: LIFE IS SWEET

It seems that each generation has been given a name, or a letter, or maybe a number to classify them into specificity. There are however, certain things in this world that we can hold universal. Whether a person is six or sixty, they will still like a good piece of cake. They may argue over what cake they consider to be the best, but they will all come to the table for something delicious with promise. To that end, I bring you a recipe for simple and tasty with the option of embellishment.
